Four men – two Australians, a New Zealander and a South African – brought in a new breakfast cereal, Weetabix, which, up until that time, had been fairly successful in South Africa.
They started production at Wallaces old mill in Burton Latimer which was leased by Frank George. It made perfect business sense to buy the wheat from their landlords.

Grain was brought up the river on barges from London Docks. Bill (Harold) Reynolds joined as apprentice to Mill Manager, Frank George, at a time when steam-powered lorries delivered flour to London.
Frank George joined the Board of Weetabix.
The Company became known as Whitworths Holdings Ltd. J B Whitworth celebrated his 80th birthday on 20th January at a party of friends and 100 employees.

Frank George acquired Cadge & Colman, a business with an almost identical operation to Wellingborough, and which was based on the Nene at Peterborough.
In tune with the advancement of ready-packed and prepared foods, the brothers began to bag and sell their own branded plain and self-raising flours.
